A sparkling presence, a gorgeous silky voice; this talented young vocalist has a lot going for her. Betty's style is at once elegant, playful, and seductive. She loves the emotion in each song she sings, and is not afraid to show it. When it’s up-tempo she can really swing, and on ballads there's a vulnerability in her voice that’s sweet and inviting. Add to the mix a high level of musicianship and a solid foundation in the craft, and you've got a performer whose star is on the rise.

Betty began her musical journey as a child growing up on the Central Coast of California. At a very young age she took to classical music and began rigorous training in both piano and violin. She became a violinist for the Monterey County Youth Symphony as well as the pianist for her high school orchestra and concert band. At this point, her musical interests took a turn. Through a fluke, she became the piano player for the school jazz band and fell in love with jazz. She even began to explore a hidden talent for vocals, and every now and then, would venture out in front of the band to sing a tune.

Betty continued her musical studies at U.C. Berkeley, where she earned a minor in Music, as well as a degree in Economics. There, she studied musicianship, harmony, and sang in a mixed a cappella group on campus, all the while continuing to study jazz on her own. After college, Betty began to study voice more seriously and her own unique style began to evolve.

In recent years, Betty has been performing with the best musicians in the Bay area at various local venues. Her focus remains on vocal jazz and continuing to develop as a musician. “The more I learn about jazz, the more I realize there is to learn. I am lucky to have wonderful musicians and teachers in my life. My respect for them and the music continues to grow.”

Recent Bay Area performance venues include: the De Young Museum, the Ritz-Carlton, Viansa Winery, Nordstrom Centre SF, the St. Regis Hotel, Farallon, Jardinière, Shanghai 1930, Enrico's, and Downtown Restaurant.
